The ultrasonic handpiece integrates irrigation, aspiration and emulsification and when
in U/S or U/S PULSE Modes, the cataractuous lens is emulsified and aspirated,
intraocular pressure ( IOP ) is maintained by irrigation.
The U/S handpiece requires no disassembly.

The ultrasonic ( U/S ) handpiece is a surgical device suitable for ophthalmic
procedures where irrigation, aspiration or emulsification is required.
It consists of an ultrasonically driven handpiece, an attached hollow cutting tip, an
irrigation sleeve and an electronic control console.
The U/S device assembly is attached to the control console by an electric cable
and flexible irrigation and aspiration tubing.
The surgeon use the footpedal to control the power level transmitted by the console to
the handpiece and attached cutting tip, the flexible tubings supply irrigation fluid to and
draw aspiration fluid from the eye through the handpiece assembly to the polybag.
