PGA ( Polyglycolic acid ) synthetic sutures are braided multifilament or monofilament threads
made of Polyglycolic acid and coated with N-Laurin and L-Lysine, which render the thread
extremely smooth. PGA surgical suture material is used wherever absorption is required
PDO ( Polydioxanone ) synthetic sutures are made of the polyester, poly ( p-dioxanone ).
It is non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic, and elicits minimal tissue reactivity during the absorption process.
Polydioxanone is ideal for internal tissues where a long lasting absorption is required.

Plain or Simple Gut and Chromic Gut sutures are surgical suture materials made of highly purified
connective tissue ( mostly collagen ) derived from either beef or sheep intestines.
Due to an extremely short absorption period, plain gut elicits only minimal reaction in tissues and
is absorbed more rapidly in infected areas and in areas where increased levels of enzymes are present.
